In Odoo, it is possible to set the requirement for completing the Analytic Distribution on the Analytic Plan. In practice, this means that when manually posting a depreciation entry (or other entries) without an assigned Analytic Distribution, a blocking message appears, preventing the posting of such an entry.
The issue arises with entries that have the “Auto-post” option enabled and are posted automatically according to the Accounting Date – this solution is particularly common in depreciation entries. In such cases, Odoo does not apply the block and allows posting of entries without the Analytic Distribution.
We submitted a service ticket to Odoo describing the issue and pointing out the system inconsistency. In response, we were informed that: indeed, this is a minor shortcoming in Standard Odoo, and an improvement request has already been raised. However, the final decision in this matter requires a lengthy analysis process and may only be implemented in future versions of the system.
In order to work around this inconsistency, we propose a solution that involves completing the Analytic Distribution directly on the Asset, which will prevent mistakes during automatic posting.
